Alyson shares how to get a flawless makeup look for NYFW 2017
Although it’s crazy to think that the beauty and fashion industry is already preparing for spring 2018 (we’re still hanging on to summer 2017), we’ve loved keeping an eye on the latest beauty and fashion trends featured at NYFW these past few days. Alyson, our lovely friend and founder of The Beauty Vanity, was lucky enough to get behind the scenes access at NYFW 2017, and even snapped some exclusive shots at our Club Monaco show! We asked her to document her makeup while at NYFW, featuring some of our most beloved fruit dyed makeup products from 100% PURE.

It’s officially the first day of New York Fashion Week and for me, it’s always the most exciting. NYC has an inherently unexplainable, addictive energy and when it’s NYFW, you can feel and see inspiration all around you. While I love seeing the new designs for the upcoming season, going backstage is absolutely my favorite part; while most influencers sit at the shows, I really love witnessing the makeup artists and hair stylists in their element. Since I know I’ll be running around from show to show and snapping pictures backstage all day, in the morning it’s super important to build my makeup look to be both glamorous and comfortable!
NYC’s weather is starting to feel like Fall, so I decided to wear a fruit dyed makeup look that was very Fall inspired. Here’s what I used:
Base
I’m usually out all day, sometimes from 7 AM to 9 PM, so it’s important that my base stays flawless all day. 100% PURE Mattifying Primer creates a smooth canvas across my skin, and helps to keep my face from getting too greasy. Then I apply 100% PURE Healthy Foundation because it gives medium to full coverage that I know will look beautiful in pictures. Next, to hide my dark circles from the late nights and lack of sleep, I use the 2nd Skin Concealer. It’s not at all drying on the skin under my eyes, and I love the full coverage it offers.
Cheeks
My makeup look is never complete without the use of a bronzer and for a more natural effect, I use a Fruit Pigmented Foundation Powder that’s a few shades darker than my skin tone. I apply this using the Angled Contour Brush around my hairline, under my cheekbones, and under my jawline.
For my cheeks I chose Afterglow, the blush from Fruit Pigmented® Pretty Naked II Palette and Illumé, the palette’s pearly highlighter to apply across the tops of my cheeks and down the bridge of my nose. Already planning to use a berry/wine colored lipstick, I knew the rosy nudes in this palette perfectly would complement the rest of my look.

Brows
For brows that will last all day - I use these two products! The Long Last Brows give a really defined look to my brows, and the Green Tea Fiber Brow Builder brushed on top really keeps each hair in place and adds a soft tint of color.

Eyes
For my eye makeup, I kept things pretty and simple. For this look, I blended the Illumé highlighter from the Pretty Naked II Palette all over my lid, then used a fluffy Crease Brush to apply the blush as an eyeshadow in my outer corner. I added a thin line of the Long Last Liquid Eye Liner in Black Tea, then smudged the shimmery, dark purple-brown Vivid eyeshadow on top to soften the look of the liquid liner. On my lower lash line, I used an Angled Brush to smudge Vivid eyeshadow really close to the lash line to define my eyes. Lastly, I used the Ultra Lengthening Mascara to finish off the eye makeup look.

Powder
To help set my makeup, I use the Bamboo Blur Powder with the Powder Brush. I start at the center then buff the remainder onto the rest of my face to finish the light, translucent coverage. I find that this powder helps to keep my skin matte all day, and it blurs out any pores and fine lines.
Lips
I finish off my makeup with a deep red Lip Caramel in Plum Wine. My lips always get dry, so I use the Organic Mint Lip Balm first, before applying the Lip Caramel on top. Since the Lip Caramels are made from fruit and vegetable pigments and achiote seeds, the color naturally stains my lips and wears off beautifully (no weird rings around my lips) before I need to apply again.
