Any self-proclaimed beauty expert should be familiar with cleansing oils; they blanket our skin in silky moisture, without stripping or drying. So how do we seize these benefits for the other 90-percent of our skin?

Allow us to introduce you to the newest addition to our bath and shower collection: the Sweet Almond Gentle Shower Oil. It’s our latest skin-loving invention – and your answer to dry skin’s winter blues.

What’s Inside the Gentle Shower Oil?

This super moisturizing body wash is made in a base of plant oils, meaning it’s automatically more moisturizing than your average body wash. Our waterless formula deeply cleanses skin, without stripping it of its natural oils or damaging the delicate lipid barrier.

With concentrated infusions of vitamin E, apricot, and coconut oils in this formula, skin can better lock in moisture – sans the greasy residue.

Get to know this luscious blend – a hybrid of a body wash and shower oil – to gently cleanse for soft, supple skin straight from the shower.

Apricot Kernel Oil
This light, non-greasy oil gently lifts away impurities while rehydrating thirsty skin. Its silky oil texture creates a very light foam when lathered with decyl glucoside (more on that later). It supplies antioxidants and healthy fats to the skin, and helps it lock in essential moisture.

Applied to itchy or irritated skin, apricot kernel oil facilitates faster healing without leaving a greasy residue. Since this oil contains anti-inflammatory properties, it’s great for dry skin, eczema, and psoriasis. Apricot kernel oil deeply nourishes and kindly soothes for soft, healthy looking skin.

Vitamin E
Vitamin E is a known moisture booster, and one of the most popular vitamins for the skin. It contains antioxidants that are naturally found in your skin’s own sebum; being skin-dentical means it’s especially nourishing and soothing, especially for dry or sensitive skin types. Vitamin E-xcellent also works to reduce inflammation and bolster the strength of the skin’s delicate lipid barrier.

PRO-TIP: Showering with a sunburn isn’t fun, but the Gentle Shower Oil is up to the challenge. Vitamin E oil can moisturize and soothe dry, flaky skin, meaning that it may help to relieve the burning and itching that result from a sunburn. But of course, we recommend being religious about your SPF in the first place!

Coconut Oil
This trusty body oil can mimic your skin’s own sebum, making it feel hydrated and balanced. Thanks to high quantities of antimicrobial fatty acids, using coconut oil for eczema, dryness, or sensitive skin may be an effective remedy. This oil also contains high levels of linoleic acid: an emollient omega-6 fatty acid that can be used to deeply moisturize and replenish dry skin.

Sweet Almond Flavor
If we’re lathering up with skin-happy ingredients, our senses should be equally enraptured. The aroma of our shower oil comes from food-grade sweet almond flavor. This scent is similar to our Honey Almond body care formulas, but more subtle than our body cream and shower gel.

PRO-TIP: While this sweet almond flavor is a pleasure for our noses to behold, it’s skin-softening powers are even better! It’s easily absorbed and won't clog pores, promoting soft and clear skin.

Decyl Glucoside
We always stick to plant-based surfactants in our body wash and shower gel, and this shower oil is no different. Decyl glucoside lifts away dirt and oil stripping or damaging skin’s lipid barrier. Decyl glucoside is also biodegradable and obtained from plant-based materials, making it low-impact for the environment once it’s washed down the drain.

This coconut-based cleansing agent functions as an ultra-mild surfactant, with the ability to cut through oil and offer light sudsing action. Thanks to the moisture-binding properties of decyl glucoside, skin is left balanced, soft, and smooth.

PRO-TIP: Other smart natural surfactant substitutes include coconut-oil-derived potassium cocoate and saponified coconut oil, which is produced through coconut oil being broken down by sodium. Just try to avoid harsh chemical surfactants such as sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and Polyethylene Glycol (PEG). The more natural and plant based, the better!

How to Use the Gentle Shower Oil

The Gentle Shower Oil can be applied in the shower or bath. Use it daily, or as a replacement for a conventional body wash when skin is feeling extra thirsty. It won't lather as heavily as our traditional shower gels, and may therefore be an appealing alternative for those with dry or sensitive skin.

Here’s how to use it for best results:

  1. Shake the bottle well before use, to ensure any naturally separated oils are well dispersed.

  2. Dispense the oil generously onto a wet bath sponge, or apply directly onto wet palms.

  3. Rub hands together or squeeze the bath sponge to create a light lather.

  4. Massage over skin in circular motions; rinse well.

  5. After a bath or shower, pat dry with a towel or air dry to maintain moisture levels in the skin.

  6. Optional: follow with a body cream for intensive moisture. Skin will already feel supple and hydrated straight from the shower, given this formula’s high oil content.
